Ted From NH's 1967 Memories

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh 1967............what a year!

1. Returning to the Danvers Armory on a Sunday, after a National Guard drill down the Cape. I had a transistor radio and listened as the Sox beat the Twins late in the season. I believe the entire "convoy" of trucks had access to transistor radios—as horns would loudly blow when the Sox did something good.

2. Jose Tartabull made a key throw to home plate and nailed the runner. I was pleasantly shocked and, to this day, I believe that successful throw was a key reason we won the pennant.

3. We got "the Hawk" and the Hawk did good !

4. Russ Gibson, Mike Ryan, and Elston Howard. 'Nuf said!

5. Lonborg was a sure thing. He took the mound, you figured: "automatic win". Then the ski accident after the season—talk about heartache!!

6. Jose Santiago actually hit a home run—how did that happen ???

7. Nobody at any time, ever in the history of baseball, had the season that Yaz had. Hitting, clutch hitting, fielding, throwing out runners—-what a season. I don't care what anyone says, this was the best one year performance in the history of baseball !!!! I even bought some Big Yaz bread.

8. Jerry Adair—this guy made more of an impact, much more than the Hawk. We couldn't have done it without him!
